Understanding United Kingdom time
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use the same local clock. Pick a city above to set your comparison location, then account for the UK’s seasonal clock changes when making international plans.

Which places share this UK clock?
London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast share the Europe/London clock rules. Travelling between these cities does not change the time zone. This guide covers the United Kingdom itself; it does not represent the different clocks used in British Overseas Territories.
The country selector sets a city for the globe, converter and first planner row. The national guide stays in view so you can keep the UK’s seasonal rule in mind while comparing locations.

GMT, BST and the 2026 calendar
The UK uses GMT (UTC+0) in winter and British Summer Time (UTC+1) in summer. Under the current rule, clocks go forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October.
In 2026 those dates are 29 March and 25 October. Overnight appointments close to a change need extra care because a local hour can be skipped or repeated. For such an appointment, confirm the exact UTC offset with the provider; this planner does not let you choose between two repeated occurrences.

Keeping a UK–Pakistan call convenient
Pakistan remains at UTC+5 under current rules. It is five hours ahead of UK time during GMT and four hours ahead during BST. Keeping a UK call fixed at 09:00 therefore means 14:00 in Pakistan in winter or 13:00 in summer.
For participants aiming for a 09:00–18:00 day in both countries, 09:00–12:00 in the UK is a useful starting window under either seasonal offset. Confirm the full meeting duration and everyone’s actual availability.
For a recurring event, decide whose local hour must stay fixed. Use that location’s named calendar time zone, then inspect an occurrence after the next UK clock change. The other participant’s local hour may move even when the meeting’s home time stays unchanged.
| UK clock rule | UK time | Pakistan time |
|---|---|---|
| GMT · UTC+0 | 09:00 | 14:00 · same day |
| BST · UTC+1 | 09:00 | 13:00 · same day |
Calculated from the stated offsets. London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast give the same result.
Questions about United Kingdom time
Is Scotland an hour behind England?
No. Edinburgh and London use the same time, including the same seasonal clock changes.
Should I write GMT for a UK summer meeting?
Use the correct named time zone, such as Europe/London, in the calendar. During British Summer Time the UK is at UTC+1, so labelling a local summer hour as GMT would describe a different instant.
