Understanding India time
India uses Indian Standard Time, five hours and thirty minutes ahead of UTC. The live clock and local date above answer what time it is in India now; choose a city to match your destination, then compare a call or appointment abroad.

Indian Standard Time: UTC+5:30
CSIR-National Physical Laboratory maintains Indian Standard Time (IST). New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai use the same national clock, so travelling between these cities does not require a time-zone adjustment.
Calendar software represents current Indian time with Asia/Kolkata. Under current IANA rules India does not change its clocks for daylight saving. Use the named zone and the meeting date rather than treating every international time difference as a whole number of hours.

India–Dubai time difference and midnight
India is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Dubai under current rules. A 09:00 appointment in India is at 07:30 in Dubai; an 18:00 India call is at 16:30 in Dubai. This difference stays the same through the year while both current rules remain in force.
Check the date near midnight: 00:15 in India is 22:45 on the previous date in Dubai. The converter starts with New Delhi and Dubai. Selecting another Indian city changes the location label, not India's UTC+5:30 offset.
For the UAE clock and other call-planning examples, see the Dubai time guide.
India–London meetings change with the UK season
India is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of London during Greenwich Mean Time, and 4 hours 30 minutes ahead during British Summer Time. A 15:00 India meeting is at 09:30 in London during GMT or 10:30 during BST. India's own clock does not change; London's does.
For a future meeting, keep an Indian city as City 1, choose London in another planner row and enter the date using the device time zone shown below the input. Read the same column across rows and include both local dates in your invitation. For recurring calls, check a date on each side of the next UK clock change.
Check the London GMT/BST guide for the published UK clock-change dates. The planner compares times; it does not send invitations or know participants' actual availability.

Questions about India time
Is the time the same in New Delhi and Mumbai?
Yes. Both use Indian Standard Time, as do Kolkata and Chennai. The country selector changes the named destination while keeping the same current clock rule.
Should I write only IST in an international invitation?
Write Indian Standard Time (UTC+5:30), or choose Asia/Kolkata in your calendar. Including the city and date avoids relying on an abbreviation that can have other meanings.
Is this clock synchronized directly with CSIR-NPL?
No. This planning tool uses your device clock and time-zone data; it is not an official time feed. Check your device clock and verify critical schedules with the organiser. The CSIR-NPL source above provides the official Indian Standard Time reference.
